On Sunday night all my family were assembled in the same room for the first time since I left for Switzerland. However, we did not sit together, and one of the main reasons was that the evening would have been a bit boring if Prylen would be sitting with us, since she was playing Lady Marion in the sketch we all came to watch.
The story was that it's been a couple of years since Robin Hood was on top, but after Lady Marion left him (after he being a too bad winner) he's been taking a drop too much too often and all of his gang except for a very hipster Little John has left him. And as usual the sheriff of Nottingham wants to take over the world, his handyman sir Guy being more stupid than ever (and the funniest ever as well) and prince John being the most unfit of princes as usual not being able to choose even between a turnip an potato (though it should be an easy choise since potatos hasn't arrived yet). To mix everything up even more, throw in Arn the temple knight from Sweden and you end up with a very funny two hours and half an hour.
Look past all the blonde hair and the
scary make up and you'll find Prylen
I am such a proud sister. Prylen was amazing For two hours and half an hour she dance the most acrobatic dances I've seen, and sang in both high and low key with ease. I was like who is she and where's my sister. Not that she's not good usually, but I've never heard her sing so well. I was just in awe the whole time of having a sister like that. I also really liked the wig she was wearing, after I realized she was the one wearing it. Normally not wearing any make up and very natural hair, it was a bit difficult to recognize her. But deep down under all the theater make up, there she was.
After singing the last extra verse on the last song it was time to start moving to the buses which would be taking us to the next big thing; the after party. Just FYI, if you ever go to an after party organized by a student association, there are some things to thing about before you go.
- Don't be full, since a three meal course will be the the first on the agenda after the cocktails
- Don't be too hungry since it will take a long time to finish the meal since every second minute it's time to sing a snaps song and after that to drink your snaps. Or part of it, depending on how drunk you want to be in the end.
- Don't ever forget your song book with all the snaps songs, not because you'll need it for the song texts, but because during the dessert, you want all you neighbor to write a comment, a nice way to remember an evening even if you yourself can't remember a thing.
This party was one of the greatest parties I've ever been to! I had great company, one of the reasons being that I for once asked to be seated next to Prylen and one of my best friends. The camera was too bit to fit into my handbag but what you'll miss is a lovely dinner with funny live performances and after that a party filled with dancing, talking with great people and when you couldn't stand anymore (due to aching feet of course) just relaxing in a comfy sofa.
One of the songs performed at the party...
(not of course by Tim Minchin) :D
At 5 Prylen and I could hardly walk so we decided to go back to her place and crash. Waking up at 10 the next morning feeling all fine but with aching abs due to all the dancing, I took the bus to the centre of Helsinki to meet Minnie and catch up on everything. She's going to Madrid for the spring and we're planning to visit each other then.
